Heaven, Sun, Moon, Stars

Heaven = Nation/Government

Sun = First Ruler

Moon = Second Ruler

Stars = Other Rulers (or Angels)

Joseph

Joseph’s divine dream equates his father with the sun, his mother with the moon, and his brothers with stars.

Gen. 37:9-10 And he [Joseph] dreamed yet another dream, and told it to his brethren, and said, Behold, I have dreamed yet a dream: and, behold, the sun and the moon and eleven stars made obeisance to me. And he told it to his father, and to his brethren; and his father rebuked him, and said unto him, What is this dream that thou hast dreamed? Shall I [your father] and thy mother and thy brothers indeed come to bow down ourselves to thee to the earth?

Ezekiel

Ezekiel equates the fall of Pharaoh and the nation of Egypt with covering the heavens, making the stars dark, covering the sun, and the moon not giving its light.

Ezek. 32:2 Son of man, take up a lamentation over Pharaoh king of Egypt, and say unto him, Thou wast likened unto a young lion of the nations: yet art thou as a monster in the seas; and thou didst break forth with thy rivers, and troubledst the waters with thy feet, and fouledst their rivers.

Ezek. 32:7-8 And when I shall extinguish you [Pharaoh king of Egypt], I will cover the heavens, and make the stars thereof dark; I will cover the sun with a cloud, and the moon shall not give its light. All the bright lights of heaven will I make dark over thee, and set darkness upon thy land, saith the Lrd Gd.

Ezek. 32:11-12 For thus saith the Lrd Gd: The sword of the king of Babylon shall come upon thee [Pharaoh king of Egypt]. By the swords of the mighty will I cause thy multitude to fall; the terrible of the nations are they all: and they shall bring to nought the pride of Egypt, and all the multitude thereof shall be destroyed.

Jeremiah

Jeremiah equates the destruction of Judah and Jerusalem by the king of Babylon with the heavens not having any light, which means the sun, moon, and stars had been darkened.

Jer. 4:5-7 Declare ye in Judah, and publish in Jerusalem; and say, Blow ye the trumpet in the land: cry aloud and say, Assemble yourselves, and let us go into the fortified cities. Set up a standard toward Zion: flee for safety, stay not; for I will bring evil from the north, and a great destruction. A lion [king of Babylon] is gone up from his thicket, and a destroyer of nations; he is on his way, he is gone forth from his place, to make thy land desolate, that thy cities be laid waste, without inhabitant.

Jer. 4:9 And it shall come to pass at that day, saith the Lrd, that the heart of the king shall perish, and the heart of the princes; and the priests shall be astonished, and the prophets shall wonder.

Jer. 4:20 Destruction upon destruction is cried; for the whole land is laid waste: suddenly are my tents destroyed, and my curtains in a moment.

Jer. 4:23 I beheld the earth, and, lo, it was waste and void; and the heavens, and they had no light.

Jer. 4:27-28 For thus saith the Lrd, The whole land shall be a desolation; yet will I not make a full end. For this shall the earth mourn, and the heavens above be black; because I have spoken it, I have purposed it, and I have not repented, neither will I turn back from it.

Isaiah

Isaiah equates the desolation of Babylon by the Medes as the sun, moon, and stars being darkened.

Is. 13:9-10 Behold, the day of the Lrd cometh, cruel, with wrath and fierce anger; to make the land a desolation, and to destroy the sinners thereof out of it. For the stars of heaven and the constellations thereof shall not give their light; the sun shall be darkened in its going forth, and the moon shall not cause its light to shine.

Is. 13:17 Behold, I will stir up the Medes against them, who shall not regard silver, and as for gold, they shall not delight in it.

Isaiah equates the fall of nations with the stars dissolving and the heavens being rolled up like a scroll.

Is. 34:1-4 Come near, ye nations, to hear; and hearken, ye peoples: let the earth hear, and the fulness thereof; the world, and all things that come forth from it. For the Lrd hath indignation against all the nations, and wrath against all their host: he hath utterly destroyed them, he hath delivered them to the slaughter. Their slain also shall be cast out, and the stench of their dead bodies shall come up; and the mountains shall be melted with their blood. And all the host of heaven shall be dissolved, and the heavens shall be rolled up as a scroll; and all their host shall fade away, as the leaf falls from off the vine, and as a falling leaf from the fig-tree.

Host of Heaven = Sun, Moon, Stars = Rulers of Nation

Deut. 4:19 and lest thou lift up thine eyes unto heaven, and when thou seest the sun and the moon and the stars, even all the host of heaven, thou be drawn away and worship them, and serve them, which the Lrd thy Gd hath allotted unto all the peoples under the whole heaven.

Deut. 17:3 and hath gone and served other gods, and worshipped them, or the sun, or the moon, or any of the host of heaven, which I have not commanded;

2Kings 23:5 And he put down the idolatrous priests, whom the kings of Judah had ordained to burn incense in the high places in the cities of Judah, and in the places round about Jerusalem; them also that burned incense unto Baal, to the sun, and to the moon, and to the constellations, and to all the host of heaven.

Is. 34:4 And all the host of heaven shall be dissolved, and the heavens shall be rolled together as a scroll; and all their host shall fade away, as the leaf fadeth from off the vine, and as a fading leaf from the fig-tree.

Jer. 8:2 and they shall spread them before the sun, and the moon, and all the host of heaven, which they have loved, and which they have served, and after which they have walked, and which they have sought, and which they have worshipped: they shall not be gathered, nor be buried, they shall be for dung upon the face of the earth.
